Electribe
ER-1:
The
ER-1 is a Analog modelling rhythm synth, I won't go over al the tech.
specs, as they can be found on the Korg
website.
Here are just my thoughts/tips on this machine:
It doesn't have it's own filter, so no cut-off and resonance, you'll have
to do external processing for that.
There are no effects apart from a global delay, and a kind of distortion,
wich is the [Amp] knob which determines the volume of the synth-part you
are playing, turning this knob to it’s full position gives a nice
edge to the sound.
The Electribe R sound is comparable to the sound of a Roland 808/909,
It’s NOT the same, I know…..(don’t want to get in the
eternal battle Analog vs. VA or that my Roland x0x is better anyway shit.
It’s just MY opinion)
I use it a lot for it’s baze-drum, and for weird noizes (twisting
the mod depth and mod speed at the same time) And I always route it trough
a distortion, which is something I tend to do with everything. (I Love
distortion) All in all a perfect machine for the job, and cheap as well
(I Love cheap synths as well) ;-)
