Here is a little intro on who the hell I am (and we are, because I am
not always alone)
I guess it al started when I was around 9 years old, and I bought my first
CD (didn’t even have my own CD player yet, because CD’s where
pretty new back then!) It was a compilation of synthesizers greatest hits
with songs like Axel F and Autobahn.. I really liked the sound of the
synthesizers. Then my family moved to Florida to live there for 3 years
(I was 10 when we moved there) And there I got my first computer. A commodore
64 with loads of games. I remember just listening to a lot of the tunes
on the C64 and I really loved that sound (Now I am in the process of building
a SID chip based synth) When we moved back to Holland the house scene
was becoming more and more popular. Then I came into puberty and my sick
and twisted brain combined the following: Love of synthesisers, bleepie
Commodore sounds, house music, feeling fucked up because you are in your
puberty = GABBER. So I started listening to the most aggressive kind of
house, hardcore gabber. And not the rave parade CD’s but the more
unknown CD full of screaming, noisy super-fast (220 BPM) terror gabber.
Then I started using Fast Tracker II to make my own noize and really liked
it so a couple of years later I bought a synth (Yamaha DJ-X) and I found
out how fucked up it is if you by the wrong kind of gear for to much money..
So after some more research I bought the Yamaha SU700 (which is still
one of my favourite machines) After that there was no stopping me, I had
to spend every dime I earned on more gear, to finally have the home-studio
I now have. And there is still a lot of switching and buying, trading
and selling of gear. There is always something that I just must have!
Also I was still making music on the computer, and my best friend has
always helped me in choosing sounds, making remixes and everything (yeah,
what are friends for..). So now he also is a gear junkie and has his own
little setup (electribe A,R and a Quasmimidi 309) which he takes along
to my house for night long jam sessions. Which of course we never record
because it is against my religion to record... So that’s that, O
yeah, my girlfriend makes me use my headphones a lot, because al the racket
and noize is making her crazy (Jeez! Women…)
